- AMENDMENT TO SOLICITATION #0002. This is an amendment to a previously synopsized requirement issued for the purpose of providing interested parties questions/answers to assist in preparation of quotes. The Q & A is as follows: QUESTION 1: Are there any GIS deliverables expected for this project? Specifically, are any site distribution maps created expected to be delivered with associated GPS data? ANSWER 1: GIS maps are not an expected deliverable for this project. QUESTION 2: Is travel authorized as part of this project? The Washington and Oregon SHPO ¿s offices maintain online site and report databases that our office can access. However, Idaho does not and may require a site visit to access the full range of site and technical report data for the state. ANSWER 2: Travel is authorized if needed to collect data. QUESTION 3: The RFQ mentions making recommendations for supporting analysis of the Paisley Five Cave artifacts (page 4, Attachment No. 01) and we are wondering if a collections visit and assessment is expected, or if phone discussions with the University of Oregon curation facility is all that is required within the bounds of this project. ANSWER 3: Collection visit and assessment for Paisley 5 Cave is not expected. A call with UofO or OR SHPO will suffice. The focus of this part of the project is to identify nationally significant archaeology sites that are related to the theme study. An NHL nomination is not expected either. The National Park Service conducted an Earliest Americans Theme Study for the Eastern United States (Theme Study) in 2004 by a small group of scholars. This Theme Study covers only the eastern states and was prepared by dividing up efforts per NPS regions (Northeast, Southeast and Midwest). The Pacific West Regional Office has a requirement for this project to address this shortcoming and other synthesis problems by sub-regional or physiographic context, site data assessments for research and a general foundation for focusing site nomination and preservation efforts for early sites [15,000 - 9,000 BP] in the pacific west.
