- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Wilkes Barre, PA Medical Center, intends to negotiate on a Sole Source basis with Ecomm Life Safety Systems, 27 Steamwhistle Drive, Inyland, PA 18974, to award a contract to purchase and have installed a Jenron Electronic Systems Nurses Call Equipment, as part of an upgrade to the VA's existing Jeron Nurses Call system. (See Statement of Need and list of needed equipment below). Estimated Contract Amount: $370,000. STATEMENT OF WORK Nurse System Call Upgrade The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, and supervision necessary to perform the work as outlined below. The location of the work is the Patient care areas 2CLC, 3CLC, 4 East, 4 SPU, 4 ICU and 4 OR/PACU at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. The following work must be completed: 1.Installation of nurse call system in patient rooms to include patient stations with integral code blue call button capability, patient bathroom stations with audio communication with nurse's master station. Multicolored prism call lights which can be programmable for color of choice for identification of type of patient call placed to be outside each bathroom and patient room for visual communication of patient call. The contract shall include all necessary equipment, software licenses and labor needed to install devices, program, test, certify, and train staff. 2.Contractor will keep the existing nurse system in operation as they cut over patient rooms to the new system. 3.Contractor shall disconnect old Jeron system components in the existing nurse call system. 4.The contractor shall site verify all dimensions and conditions. All work must be done in accordance with all federal, state, and local codes and regulations. STATEMENT OF WORK: Ecomm will supply all equipment as listed below. In addition, all necessary cable and hardware will be supplied in the contract as well. Ecomm will be responsible to install and looping Cat6 cable (from dome to dome light) back to each respective gateway controller. Once this looping data cable is in place, Ecomm will start the cutover of patient rooms and common areas. During this time, we will keep the existing system in place and running so rooms that have not yet been upgraded will still enunciate on the old system at the nurse's station. Depending on the area and patient occupancy, we plan on completing 3-4 patient rooms per day on average. As part of the upgrade, we will be reusing a large portion of the existing Jeron 680 cabling infrastructure in the rooms. All cabling will be tested and certified during the upgrade process. Once the entire unit is upgraded to the Jeron 790, Ecomm will remove all necessary components of the older nurse call system. At this time, we will also be training the end-users after the new 790 is completely checked out and certified. As a part of the close out process, as-built shop drawings will be provided that reflect the upgraded installation for the respective unit.
