- Description
- JOFOC- CELL SORTING SYSTEM FOR TRANSFUSION MEDICINE The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a fixed priced purchase order on a sole source basis to Miltenyi Biotec, Inc., Auburn, CA, 95602 to procure the Miltenyi's MACSQuant® Tyto system. The Cell Processing Section (CPS) of the Department of Transfusion Medicine has a need for the isolation of antigen specific cells, especially for tumor-redicted T Memory stem cells (Tscm) which have demonstrated significant results in the treatment of malignancies. However, the available isolation system in CPS can only be used for the selection of bulk specific lineage cells and cannot select the rare Tscm populations. There is no other known instrumentation beyond the Miltenyi MACSQuant® Tyto with the ability to select and isolate the respective cells. Additionally, the appropriate accessories, ie, antibodies, buffers, tubings, bags, are required. A clinical trial is currently on hold due to the lack of a suitable cell isolation system. The MACSQuant® Tyto system is currently the only known cell sorter that can provide the appropriate cells necessary to fulfill the stated requirement. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the authority of the test program for commercial items prescribed in FAR Subpart 13.501 for sole source (including brand name) acquisitions.
