- Description
- Electromechanical High Security Lock Sandia National Laboratories is looking for a new generation of electromechanical locks for high security applications. The primary goals are to investigate electromechanical high security lock capabilities which are capable of meeting or exceeding all United States Government (USG) physical intrusion detection requirements. The electromechanical lock capabilities must include single programmed keys to open locks for a specified period of time, after which the key becomes unusable. The authentication method for key release should be automated and encrypted. Keys shall be individually programmable as to which cylinders they will open while supporting up to fifteen hundred keys. The lock cylinder shall be of a BEST Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC) format. The SFIC's shall fit currently deployed locks at USG facilities. The locks shall not incorporate Infrared (IR), Bluetooth, or Wireless communications. Sandia will be researching the electromechanical locks to determine the most recent stage in development with the most up-to-date features that meet or exceed USG requirements for high security facilities. The new technology locks should provide enhanced security and simplify the current lock operations. Sandia's primary focus is to understand the capabilities of state of the art electromechanical lock technology and their ability to meet USG high security requirements. Sandia is a multi-program laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, for the United States Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration under Contract DE-AC04-94AL85000.
