- SLAC seeks vendors that can provide the following: Six (6) each of Corner Raft Step Plate with the following Specifications: 1. Step Plate Material Specifications: All Step Plates shall be manufactured from a single material lot. The baseline design intends the Step Plate to be fabricated out of reinforced silicon carbide. The Step Plate material shall equal or exceed the following thermal requirements over a temperature range from ‘nominal ambient' to ‘minimum'. Nominal Ambient: 293 kelvin Minimum: 138 kelvin 1.1. Material Thermal Properties Specification: Conductivity: 120 watts per meter per kelvin, or more. Coefficient of Expansion: 2.4 parts per million per kelvin, or less. 1.2. Material Mechanical Properties Specification: Density: 3.0 gram per cubic centimeter, or less. Elastic Modulus: 320 x (10)9 Pascal, or more Flexural Strength*: 250 x (10)6 Pascal, or more Fracture Toughness: 3.6 x (10)6 Pascal per square root Meter, or more Hardness: 2400 kilogram per square millimeter, or more Poisson: 0.16 to 0.22 *Four point bending, 3mm X 20mm X 120mm sample. 2. Step Plate Manufacturing: All edges on the Step Plate shall be chip resistant under normal handling conditions. Chamfers and / or radii are required on all exposed edges, corners, and holes. Reference dwg LCA-10621 tolerance block. The Step Plate shall be visually inspected after forming and machining to look for signs of chipping. Internal voids shall not be introduced as a basic feature of the fabrication methodology. The subcontractor shall provide SLAC with all information needed to identify the source and constituents of all fluids and lubricants used. 3. Step Plate Ultra High Vacuum Specification: 3.1. Material Outgassing Specification: The Step Plate material shall comply with the following outgassing requirements: Total Outgassing Rate: 1 x (10)-9 torr liter per second per square centimeter, or less. NVR* Outgassing Rate: 1 x (10)-12 torr liter per second per square centimeter, or less. Condensables** Outgassing Rate: 2.5 x (10)-11 torr liter per second per square centimeter, or less. *Non-volatile residue (NVR) is defined as all outgassed species with atomic mass greater than 44. ** Condensables is defined as water. Specification applies after 474C for 48 hours in a vacuum atmosphere. Testing is not required by the subcontractor if sufficient outgassing data is available. 4. Step Plate Tracking of Parts: A method of labelling and tracking components through the manufacturing process shall be implemented. Particularly, it is important to serialize each Step Plate and material witness sample such that they can be identified and traced back to a single material lot. These items shall be identified with respect to the material manufacturer. The identification number for the Step Plates shall be located in the region indicated on LCA-10621. The serial number format should be of the form LCA-10621-XXX where XXX is an incremented number with leading zeros. SLAC shall approve the proposed labelling method prior to production. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE. VENDORS INTERESTED IN BEING CONSIDERED AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS AN "INTERESTED PARTY" VIA THE FBO PORTAL.
