Description
Justification and Approval The Colorado Army National guard intends to award a contract to Harris Corporation, Inc. for two proprietary products on a sole source and brand name basis in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), Soliciting from a Single Source and Brand Name. The NAICS number is 334210. Harris Corporation, Inc. is the designer, manufacturer and sole source supplier of a required operating interface and keypad display. These products are required to interface with the agency's existing Harris brand radio and are proprietary from Harris Corporation. These are not any other products that provide the required capability and compatibility with the existing radio from Harris Corporation. The two proprietary products are listed below: 1. Harris Corporation operating interface (Part number 78001-TM001) It is the operating interface (brain box) that connects between multiple Harris radios and the remote keypad display that allows the communication signals between the actual radio and the remote operator's keypad display in the Operations Center. 2. Harris Corporation keypad display (Part number RF-78001-KD200) It is the keypad display that allows the radio operator to remotely operate the radio base station from the Joint Operations Center. 3. Associated cables and connectors to connect the radios to both the interface and the remote keypad This radio remote interface allows the Joint Operations Center (JOC) to operate the Harris Radio systems located in the server room remotely from the radio operator's station in the JOC without having to be in the server room. Without this system the JOC operators currently have to physically man the server room removing them from the JOC. This system will allow the JOC Personnel to operate the radios from the JOC and maintain mission effectiveness giving the Director of the Joint Staff ease of Command and Control of Domestic Operations and Missions. The specifications are issued as Sole Source and Brand Name and the Justification and Approval document is attached.
