- Description
- This is a notice of intent to award a sole-source contract and is not a request for competitive proposals. Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) intends to solicit a proposal and enter into a contract with University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD. The statutory for this sole source procurement is 10.U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) per FAR Part 6.302-1(c). The NAICs code for this action is 325413. This requirement will be procured under the guidelines of FAR Part 12 Commercial Service, NMRC requires that all contractors doing business with the Acquisition Office must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM). No award can be made unless the vendor is registered in SAM. For additional information and to register in SAM, pease access the following website: https://www.sam.gov/. In order to register with the CCR/SAM and to be eligible to receive an award from this acquisition office, all offerors must have a DUN & Bradstreet Number. A DUN & Bradstreet number may be acquired free of charge by contacting Dun & Bradstreet on line at https://dnb.com/products/eupdate/requestOption.html. or by phone (800) 333.00505. The following requirement are as follows: See below the SOW. Stament of Work: This study will utilize immunofluiresence and immunoelectron microspoy to visualize the expression and ultrastructural localization of Plasmodium yoelii and antigen expression in sporozoites, infected hepatocytes and infected erythrocytes. Additionally, immunofluorescence and immunoelectron microscopy will be utilized on P. falciparum parasites to identify expression of orthologous genes that are initially identified in P. yoelii. The presence of the P. yoelii parasites and expression of parasite genes will be detected on P. yoelii sporozoites, infected liver and in vitro infected mouse hepatocyte cultures by immunofluorescence assays (IFA), using antibodies for those specific parasite antigens. Positive sera, from IFAs), will then be used to identify the ultrasctructural location of P. yoelii antigens using immunoelectron microscopy colloidal gold staining. Thus, ultrastructural localization of parasite antigens can then be compared in the different stages of the parasite. The same studies will be then be done using sera against falciiparum orthologues. Sera will be supplied by investigators from the Malaria Program at the Naval Medical Research Center.
