Description
The USDA, ARS, NWISRL in Kimberly, Id has a requirement for two 60-cube retro-reflector array units to be utilized with an open pateh Fourier transform Infrared spectrometer (OP/FTIR). The retro-reflectors must meet the following specifications: The retro-reflectors need to be suitable for measuring path lengths up to 500 meters between the retro-reflector and OP/FTIR (1000 meter total sample path). The retro-reflector cubes should have gold front-coated optics. The retro-reflectors should have a 60-element array of corner cubes, nested to minimize any gaps in surface area. Each cube must be individually removable for service or replacement using a single screw. Each cube must be constructed of a solid casting of aluminum substrate for durability. Cubes constructed of glass are specifically not acceptable due to fragility in harsh field conditions of shock, vibration and weather. The cubes must be constructed onto a plate and mounted in a painted (white) steel NEMA enclosure. The NEMA enclosure must be provided with a durable mount with adapts directly to a medium duty tripod, which will require a 1.25" diameter mounting post as the interface point. The cubes must be coated to provide >90% reflectivity over the continuuous spectral bandwidth of 1-20 microns radiation. Each cube must have an optical open aperture of 2.5". Only open architecture corner cubes are permitted. The approximate surface area of the completed array should be 20" by 20".
