Description
The Vendor is to provide LC Bead Particle Embolization Products for the VASLCHCS Radiology /Oncology Department. The purpose for this product is to effectively deliver a chemotherapy treatment to a variety of hyper-vascularized tumors and arteriovenous malformation while producing an embolism effect to blood vessels during radiology /oncology procedures. The LCBPE product is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved, and is a controlled embolization system that the VASLHCS utilizes in their chemotherapy treatment to Veteran patients for the purpose of embolizing the blood vessels to efficiently deliver chemotherapy. directly to hyper-vascularized tumors and arteriovenous malformation within a specific time period of these treatment procedures. The specific size 100-300 micro bead is tested and effective for treatment of cancer in the liver. It is also the optimum transporting size through the blood vessels when administering the chemo-therapy treatment. The LCBPE product binds to doxorubicin (chemo-therapy). Once the bead is in place up stream of the tumor, the bead releases the doxorubicin directly to the cancer. Then the bead occludes the vessel, stopping the blood flow to the tumor. In the past, other beads in clinical trials have shown they do not administer the same amounts of chemotherapy, and occludes the vessel too quickly to deliver and/ or administer the chemo-therapy treatment. Due to this product's unique characteristics of the size and binding chemotherapy agent in a specified timely manner makes the vendor Biocompatibles Inc. the only source capable of providing the level of success and desired end state of the chemo-therapy treatments
