- Description
- The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is soliciting construction firms to provide all labor, material, equipment, and supervision necessary for construction of six new, 3290 kw/cell, cooling towers at the IRS facility located in Kearneysville, West Virginia. The Base Bid for this project consists of replacing the current cooling towers that are nearing their life expectancy. This effort includes removing the existing towers and installing new towers at a new site location adjacent to the recently installed (2013) mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plant. Site work will be necessary to prepare a foundation for the new towers and support systems. The make-up water for the towers is provided by public supply, for which a water storage tank tower will be provided and the water treatment systems will be upgraded as part of the project. The new cooling tower systems must be fully tested and integrated with the existing MEP plant equipment to provide a single operational system. All work shall be phased to prevent interruptions to the mission-critical functions at the facility. Optional work that may be awarded includes redundant condenser water lines (in addition to those needed for the new location) to eliminate single points of failure in the condenser water systems; a pre-engineered building and electrical substation; and reconfiguration of an existing on-site water well to provide a back-up source of make-up water complete with a new chemical treatment system to make the well water suitable for this use.
