Description
The US Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service in Logan, UT has a requirement for a off the shelf Galaxy Edition 512GB/32TB computer server needed to provide initial storage of DNA sequence data obtained from a sequencer that will be housed and operated by USDA. BioTeam has distilled all of their IT best-practices as part of the SlipStream Appliance platform. BioTeam is the exclusive partner with the Galaxy Team and is the official: and only, distributor of appliances with the Galaxy platform pre-configured and pre-installed. SlipStream Appliance: Galaxy Edition provides the following benefits, among others: • Out of the box plug-and-play solution that has all the necessary hardware and software optimized and configured to run the Galaxy platform. • Automated IT management of the Galaxy platform and the underlying software packages. • Interoperability with existing infrastructure or cloud solutions to enable scalability. Having the server with this local installation of Galaxy will permit greater efficiency in data analysis and more timely analysis. The Galaxy Appliance/server comes preinstalled with a production instance of Galaxy, bioinformatics tools, and reference datasets. This system is specifically configured for computationally intensive scientific workloads. The Galaxy Appliance also provides researchers with the flexibility to install additional applications they need, independent of Galaxy, in order to effectively conduct their research on one central system. BioTeam provides ongoing support for the Galaxy Appliance, enabling researchers to minimize their IT burden Interested firms can submit proposal to the attention of Fred Gifford as listed in this notice. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source BioTeam under authority of FAR 13/6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 5 days of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
