- Description
- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Pacific (SSCPAC) intends to award a contract to Teledyne Webb Research (TWR), Inc. 49 Edgerton Drive, N. Falmouth, Massachusetts, 02556 for five (5) autonomous underwater gliding vehicles (AUGVs). TWR is currently the only responsible source capable of providing the very unique and specialized equipment. TWR manufactures the only AUGV platform offering some critical capabilities required. These capabilities are: -- Hybrid propulsion capability including both a buoyancy engine as well as convention propeller- drive thrust. -- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) -certified FIPS 140-2 data encryption -- Completely configurable, easily accessible, modular payload bay for mechanical and electrical integration of SSC-PACIFIC sensor suite and additional third-party sensors. --User-configurable software interface allowing full integration of the SSC-PACIFIC sensor suite, and add as well as additional third party sensors. -- User-configurable vehicle behaviors for unique mission requirements. -- Nose Recovery System: Spring-loaded, user-commanded, detachable nose allowing grappling hook recovery. -- Extended Endurance 4S Lithium Battery The proposed contract action is for supplies or services which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c) (1). A determination by the Government not to compete the requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the decision of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
