This is a notice of intent to negotiate a sole source procurement and is not a request for competitive quotations. Firms who want to challenge this sole source must submit an interest letter, as well as a capability statement to demonstrate their ability to perform this work. This information must demonstrate your firm's ability to provide an equivalent service as described below. Interested parties must provide rationale as to why they should be considered. All interested firms must respond to this Special Notice by 13 September, 2016, 10:00am, Mountain Standard Time to Marc Zurasky, Contract Specialist, at marc.zurasky@nist.gov, reference NB688000-16-04155. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion for the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. NIST will not reimburse for any costs connected with providing the capability information. Description: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b) with VAC Magnetics, LLC., for the repair of one (1) VAC Magnetics, LLC., Magnetic Shielding Room door. Contractors must show the ability to properly examine the door system, including the pneumatic set, install a new door spring set, properly adjust the door, install a new door pneumatic set, to include any parts as needed, as well as provide staff training.
