Description
1 Each Powder Diffractometer with the following Capabilities/characteristics: Requirements for Powder Diffractometer The following describe the requirements for a "TURN KEY" powder diffractometer used for phase identification, quantitative analysis, corrosion products identification and more in ferrous and aluminum alloys: --The automated system shall be able to perform qualitative and quantitative phase identification of ferrous, aluminum and other metallic alloys. --The automated system shall be able to identify qualitative and quantitative corrosion products of ferrous, aluminum, and other metallic alloys. --The system shall include the x‐ray diffraction databases necessary for identification ferrous, aluminum, and other metallic alloys and their different phases, and for identification of corrosion products. --The system shall include, at least, a scintillation detector, and have the ability to upgrade to a silicon strip detector. --The cooling unit, if necessary, shall be integrated into the system. --The system shall have the ability to add more capabilities in the future through purchasing additional accessories or software. These capabilities shall include thin film analysis, additional stage options, micro x‐ray diffraction, texture analysis, Rietveld refinement, etc. --The system shall have a radiation enclosure. --The unit shall have an independent warning lights to indicate when the X‐rays are on and the shutter is open. The system shall have an emergency stop button. --The system shall include, at a minimum, a Cu x‐ray tube and have the ability to change to other x‐ray tubes. --The system shall include a dedicated PC with installed software needed for use of machine and analysis. --The following information shall be provided prior to contract award: cost of replacement X‐ray tubes, cost of options for yearly service contract and what is covered, and a description of the unit's X‐ray safety features and circuits. --The manufacturer shall provide installation support and on‐site training of the powder diffraction system. Training shall provide diffraction fundamentals, instrument operation, sample preparation, software instruction, data analysis and safety. --A minimum of one year warranty on all parts and service shall be provided. --The system shall be certified to NIST SRM 1976a or 1976b and a standard shall be provided to measure system performance.
