Description

This is a PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE of a proposed requirement to award one (1) Material Testing System (MTS) based on the Instron 5942 platform (or equal). The required system is a benchtop single column electromechanical testing system to assess the mechanical characteristics of bone, teeth, implantable devices, engineered tissues, stents, and other objects (e.g., plastics, metals, composites, elastomers, components, and textiles). The system shall be used to test miniature specimens and small assemblies using a MicroTester, which performs tension, compression, and low-cycle fatigue tests with a minimum load force range of <2 mN up to 500 N at dynamic testing speeds ranging from 0.05 - 2500 mm/min. The system also requires a 3-point bending fixture to increase the load capacity to a minimum of 5 kN. The device shall be computer controlled, utilizing Bluehill software with supplemental analysis module and TrendTracker plug-ins to accelerate data analysis, data interpretation, and workflow and include a Test Profiler to create custom cyclic testing sequences, and a TestCam video recorder that allows visual recording and assessment of specimen failure utilizing an external high-resolution webcam for video acquisition. Additional accessories shall be an HD webcam with flexible mount and a High Performance Workstation PC (with Windows 7 or newer, Four Core 2.8GHz or higher processor, minimum of 2GB Memory, minimum 250GB hard drive, CD/DVD-ROM.
