Justification for Soliciting from a Brand Name: The 402nd Software Maintenance Group (SMXG) / Flt C has a requirement for multistrand and multicolor fiber and fiber cassettes. The multistrand fiber optic cables connect to the breakout boxes which enable either 6 connections for the 12 strand and 12 connections for the 24 strand fiber cable. They require high speed fiber and Panduit, the OEM in which they own the proprietary data rights also. Panduit has discovered previously unknown properties of multimode fiber optic light sources that made it possible to create a fiber optic cable that more fully compensates for the chromatic/modal effects that limit data speeds. Panduit is the brand name or equal minimum essential characteristics listed on the Purchase Description that will meet SMXG's requirement.
