- Description
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), US Meat Animal Research Center, Clay Center, NE, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis for Meso QuickPlex SQ120 instrument compatible with MSD Quickplex and Multi-Spot 96-well plates to Meso Scale Discovery in Rockville, MD; under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. MSD technology enables us to develop sets of assays by using custom linkers to any antibody sets or proteins we desire. By using the linkers specific to a single section of a single well in a 96-well plate, we can design assays to measure specific metabolites, cytokines, viruses, bacteria and any other entity that can be captured by an antibody. This system allows us to use small (50 microliter) quantities of serum (or other liquid) thus allowing precious resources to be analyzed in greater depth. Additionally, rather than requiring a dilution scheme to be sure the analyte falls within the limits of a standard curve, the MSD system allows a wide dynamic range measuring from pigcogram to microgram quantities. One problem with bead systems are issues with bead aggregation - in the MSD system, there are no compounds to aggregate. There are few washes required in the protocol, resulting in a more high throughput output of data. The assays are read within minutes of set-up vs hours for other assay systems. This technology is required in order to be able to continue our research, maintain consistency in our experiments, and allow us to evaluate our data using one type of analysis. Meso Scale Discovery is the only company that can provide this item that has the functionality which meets our requirements. This is a notice of intent and is not a request for competitive quotations or proposals. No solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide this software are encouraged to identify themselves and provide a substantive statement with descriptive literature and any other supporting information to the Contracting Officer within 10 days of publication of this notice. All information received within 10 days of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government to determine if the alternative software meets the Government's requirements and is capable of performing the intended task(s). All responses must be in writing and may be faxed to the attention of Donita Furman, fax 402-762-4145, or email at donita.furman@ars.usda.gov. Questions concerning this acquisition must be directed to Donita Furman, email donita.furman@ars.usda.gov.
