Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 6, Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC, IAW FAR 6.302-1 intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Cepheid, 904 Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089-1189. The Contractor will provide various assays for use in the Cepheid GeneXpert molecular diagnostic equipment currently installed at the Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC 28805. Cepheid is the sole distributor and manufacturer of reagents (assays) for the GeneXpert and Infinity equipment. Cepheid has no authorized resellers of their reagent products. There are not any universal assays that work in the Cepheid brand GeneXpert and Infinity diagnostic equipment. This action will result in a Firm-Fixed Price contract with a period of performance of twelve (12) months with four (4) pre-priced one year options for renewal. This notice of intent to award a sole source contract is not a request for competitive quotes. It is not a solicitation or request for offers; however, interested parties may express their interest by providing a capabilities statement NLT 23 September, 2016 at 5:00 PM EST. The capabilities statement must provide clear and unambiguous evidence to substantiate the capability of the party to provide the required services. A determination not to compete this proposed contract is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Verbal responses are not acceptable and will not be considered.
