Description
This project is for the replacement of the Visual Approach Slope Indicator (VASI) with a Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) System for Runway 17 and the installation of a new PC based Roll Out Runway Visual Range (RO-RVR) for Runway 35 at Gerald Ford International Airport, Grand Rapids, Michigan. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in accordance with the contract clauses, drawings, and specifications. The project work includes, but not limited to, the following: 1. Using registered land surveyor, field verify the location and elevation of the PAPI LHA and the RO-RVR. 2. Install concrete foundations for PAPI LHA and its Power and Control (P&C) rack, and for RVR MG-20 base and its P&C rack. 3. Install MG-20 base and LIR pole for the RVR sensor. 4. Install approximately 6300 feet of 25PR#19 shielded control cable, about 2300 feet of it in 2 PVC Schd. 80 in a new trench, and about 4,000 feet to be pulled through existing airport spare ducts. 5. Backfill all the cable trenches. 6. Install 2 x3 underground pull boxes and ground rods along cable route. 7. Install 12 x100 crushed rock plot for the PAPI LHA site and 20 x35 for the RVR VS and for the PAPI rack. 8. Install a 230 feet long and 12 wide crushed rock access road for the PAPI/ RVR site, from the site to a nearby airport Fire road. 9. FAA installation crew will establish remote radio control system (RRCS) in ATCT and install switch assembly cabinet with push-button controls in tower cab. For the RO-RVR FAA installation crew will add modem to the existing RVR Data Processing Unit and new wire from the field cable junction box to the existing RVR rack. 10. Contractor shall verify PAPI will operate normally on both landline control and A/G, and test photocell. 11. Remove existing VASI equipment and it concrete foundation. 12. Participate in Contractor s Acceptance Inspection (CAI), and quickly address any punch list items. CAI may be conducted in conjunction with the Joint Acceptance Inspection (JAI) with the SSC. 13. Restore and site cleanup. The performance time is as follows: Phase 1: 14 working days Phase 2: 16 working days Phase 3: 15 working days Phase 4: 4 working days Phase 5: 2 working days The construction schedule phasing is as follows: 1. Installation of the PAPI LHA (four) and its underground cables from the PAPI rack to the LHA is in the RSA and the LHA crushed rock plot, will require runway shut down day to day basis. 2. Installation of the RVR VS, its rack, the PAPI rack, and the site crushed rock plot. This work is outside the ROFA, no runway shut down is required. 3. Installation of the field control cable. This work is done outside the RSA no runway shut down is required. 4. Removal of the existing VASI, this is in the RSA, runway shut down is required. 5. Restore site and clean up and demobilization. The solicitation number for this requirement is DTFASA-17-R-00044. Anticipated start date of project is Spring 2017. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT.
