Description

Plans Solicitation PROJECT DETAILS: CA FLAP SR 36(13a) State Road 36 Humboldt County This contract is for tree clearing in anticipation of an upcoming road improvement project to California State Route 36 (SR 36) in Humboldt County from milepost HUM 36.05 to HUM 40.44, which generally is between the communities of Bridgeville, CA and Dinsmore, CA. Major work items include approximately: •66 acres of tree and shrub clearing •Biological surveys for tree dwelling endangered species •Traffic control ESTIMATED COST: This contract is estimated to be $1 million to $2 million. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The terrain is generally steep with tall slopes making for a very challenging work site. There are numerous seeps and springs above and below the road, and streams crossing the road. This project is located in a sensitive natural setting. Provisions will be necessary to protect Federal or State listed endangered, threatened, or special concern species. Provisions will include limitations on when and where work can occur. Contractor-furnished biological monitors will be required for some elements of the work. SR 36 is a Caltrans facility and the project lies within the Caltrans right-of-way. The Federal Highway Administration, Central Federal Lands Highway Division is the contracting agency and will be administering this construction contract.
