Description
The Contractor shall provide all labor, management, supervision, tools, material, and equipment required to provide a construction package for the Building 311 Sprinkler Replacement with Options for Buildings 108 and 303 at NSA Mechanicsburg, PA. This project will remove the existing sprinkler system in each fire-section and install a new wet pipe sprinkler system in its place. Building 311 Sprinkler Riser Replacement and Study: The work for the primary project includes, the replacement of all fire alarm and sprinkler related equipment in the building 311A mechanical room and the sprinkler fire department connection outside of the building and related piping. The specific work also includes but is not limited to, the replacement of the existing shut-off valves of the fire sprinkler mains, piping, fire alarm valves and switches, backflow preventers, drains and any other code required items. If any changes to the existing equipment sizes will require new hydraulic calculations. Additionally the project includes an engineering study of the entire sprinkler system in building 311.The study shall address any code deficiencies within in the system and areas of concern, provide recommendations for code compliance and improve reliability of any aspect of the system that has exceeded it ™s useful life or is outdated. The study shall be comprehensive enough so that a design scope of work could be easily generated, and shall also include budgeting cost estimated. Building 108 Sprinkler Replacements: The replacement of the sprinkler system in Building 108 will be a stand-alone option. Building 108 is a is a standard 200 ™ by 600 ™ timber framed warehouse. There is a 2400square foot office in the South center bay, a boiler room, tank room and transformer room. The scope of this work is to remove and replace the entire existing dry pipe sprinkler system to a code compliant wet pipe sprinkler system. The work shall be designed and installed to meet the current NFPA code and hazard classification for building 108. There are exterior covered areas that shall have sprinkler coverage. The work shall include designing the system, replacing all sprinkler heads, riser piping and valves and fire alarm equipment and work associated with the sprinkler replacement. The building is separated into 4 fire bays. The sprinkler valve rooms are assumed to be asbestos transite materials. The work shall also include removal and disposal of the asbestos transite materials and replaced with a code compliant material. Each of the 4 sprinkler valve rooms shall have any lights and unit heaters removed if existing, and a new light fixture and unit heater provided. All new fire alarm equipment provided shall be compatible with the existing system. The project will require all site and survey work, engineering, design, materials, equipment and labor required to remove the existing dry sprinkler system and install new complete wet pipe sprinkler system at building 108 at NSA, Mechanicsburg, PA. The new sprinkler system must include coverage in the entire warehouse high bay area of the building and also have extension branches to cover inside of any interior office or storage spaces in the building. It will also include connecting the new sprinkler system to any existing alarm system in the building. See Sections 4 and 5 for more detail on these areas. Any exterior canopies, covered areas or loading docks shall have sprinkler coverage. Any existing drain heaters shall be removed back to the source electrical panel. Building 303 Sprinkler Replacements: The replacement of the sprinkler system in Building 303 will be a stand-alone option. Building 303 is a is a standard 200 ™ by 600 ™ timber framed warehouse. There is a 2400square foot office in the South center bay, a boiler room, tank room and transformer room.
