- Description
- Additional Site Walk thru Questions 1.We would like to request clarification for responses already provided by VALLHS that contradict one another. "The VA's response to question #2 in VA262-16-Q-1568-A00001003 indicates that the Contractor shall reuse existing Cat 5e or Cat 6 cabling whenever possible (i.e. when "current cabling in place will allow new cameras to perform as required." "The VA's response to question #6d in VA262-16-Q-1568-A00001003 indicates that "Contractor should assume replacement of all cabling." For bidding purposes, should Bidders assume copper Ethernet cabling to all 311 camera locations shall be replaced? Yes. The following response will be the final instruction and override any other possible term, instruction, or guidance to establish uniformity throughout the solicitation and quote submission process. The contractor is to assume all replacement of cabling for 311 cameras. Should the contractor determine that the current cabling is functioning properly, the contractor may at their discretion choose whether to replace or leave current cabling, however, as stated in the statement of work in Section 26. (pg. 19) the warranty requested for two years from final acceptance will ensure that old cabling and new cabling is working properly. 2.The VA's response to question #7 in VA262-16-Q-1568-A00001003 indicates that the Contractor is responsible for installing new fiber optic cable to all switch locations. Bidder notes that provision and installation of new fiber optic cable was not included as part of the project SOW included with the original Solicitation release, nor was it added as part of VA262-16-Q-1568-A00001001 ("Changes/ Amendments to Statement of Work"). Addition of this fiber optic cable scope represents a significant change to the overall project scope - we would have expected to see it called out in VA262-16-Q-1568-A00001001 at the least. Does VALLHS require that new multi-mode backbone cable be installed between the new surveillance core switch and each IDF switch? Section 5.10 did in fact address fiber cabling. However, the following section has been amended to the statement of work: Section 5.26The contractor shall provide new fiber from each surveillance IDF switch location back to the Core switch(s). The fiber used will me the specifications as defined in this SOW or the established standard used at VALLHS. 3.For the two Cisco Cat 4500-X core switches, would VALLHS prefer that 1GE SFP transceivers or 10GE SFP+ transceivers be provided? 1 GE SFP transceivers can be used from each switch location back to the core switch as long as the bandwidth is not exceeded. "How many transceivers are required per core switch? The will depend on the # of switches used for this project 4.Item #15 on the Price Schedule in section B.2 requests 117 boxes of "cabling infrastructure" to be provided by the Contractor. The total amount of cabling structure to be provided will be driven by the 311 cameras to be installed, it makes more sense for bidders to address this from a "per drop" point of view. Would VALLHS find it acceptable if the changes shown in the table below were made to the price schedule? Yes. BEFOREAFTER Quantity = "117"Quantity = "311" Unit = "Box"Unit = "Drop"
