- NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLICIT FROM A SINGLE SOURCE INTENDED SOURCE: Leica Biosystems, Inc. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: 12 Month Base Period with 4 Option Periods PLACE OF PERFORMANCE: Research Triangle Park, NC DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT: Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b)(1), the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA), intends to solicit maintenance services for Leica Biosystems instruments currently in use at the institute. Leica Biosystems and its exclusive regional dealer (ERD) network provide the only authorized source of factory trained service engineers to maintain and repair Leica Biosystems Division equipment. Leica Microsystems, Inc., the ERD responsible for the equipment currently in use at the institute, provides qualified service engineers and exclusive OEM parts for repairs and preventative maintenance necessary to support NIEHS research efforts. The statutory authority permitting this action is FAR 13.106-1(b) - "Soliciting from a single source". The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219 "Other Electronic and Precision Equipment" and size standard of $20.50M in revenues. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate directly with Leica Microsystems, Inc. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotations; however, if you believe your firm to be capable of meeting the above requirement, please submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities must be submitted in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the Government to determine if the party can perform the requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on the responses received to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any interested party must provide a written capabilities statement via email to bernie.salter@nih.gov within two (2) days after the date of publication of this notice. No faxed documents will be accepted.
