Description

The FACET-II positron damping ring is of a compact design to fit space constraints in the SLAC accelerator housing. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks Offerors to bid on the referenced project that have the capability to engineer, design, prototype, fabricate, and test two types of dipoles, one six-pole magnet with additional quadrupole gradient and one combined four-pole magnet with sextupole gradient. The first of the dipole magnets is of a three-pole design with the middle section of the pole producing an additional quadrupole and sextupole gradient with peak pole-tip fields of 1.8T. The second dipole is of a two-pole design with one section producing an additional quadrupole gradient. Both pole pieces and coils curve in arc that follows the beam path and the poles are complex 3-D surfaces.
