- Contract Information. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is seeking businesses that are capable of providing the following: Illinois River Basin; Hager Slough Special Drainage District; upstream of Beardstown, Cass County, Illinois; 2013 Event Levee Repair. This announcement is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, implied or otherwise, to issue a solicitation or make a contract award. NO AWARD will be made from this Sources Sought Notice. This is NOT a request for proposal, quote or invitation for bid. The sole purpose of this notice is to identify potential System for Award Management (SAM) Database registered businesses that are interested and capable of performing this work. Project Description. The purpose of the project is to construct a 3000 foot sand seepage berm on the landside toe and a turtle mitigation berm on the riverside toe of the levee of Hager Slough Special Drainage District Levee. The berms will be constructed using 80,000 cubic yards of sand dredged from the adjacent Sangamon River channel. The contractor shall use a dredge between six and twelve inches. The dredge equipment shall be lifted over the levee and placed in the water at the project site. There is a log jam preventing access to the site from the Illinois River and the Sangamon River typically has limited depth and numerous sandbars, likely preventing access from the upstream boat ramp in Chandlerville, Illinois as well. The contractor shall include placement and maintenance of a gravel road for access to the project site. The Construction duration for dredging operations is July 1st through October 31st. All other required work may be performed from October 31st through February14th. Tree and shrub planting will be performed at the wetland mitigation site. Containerized trees shall be half inch caliper at the root flair and saplings shall be 24 inches high. The quantity of trees and shrubs shall be planted as follows: Pecan = 240 containerized Shellbark Hickory = 240 containerized; 960 saplings Swamp White Oak =240 containerized Pin Oak = 240 containerized; 960 saplings Bur Oak = 240 containerized Overcup Oak = 240 containerized; 1008 saplings SOURCE SOUGHT: NAICS CODE: 237990 Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction SIZE STANDARD: $36.5 Million CONTRACT ESTIMATED RANGE: $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 POINT OF CONTACT: Responses are to be sent via email to Benjamin Kimbell, at benjamin.j.kimbell@usace.army.mil no later than 12:00 p.m. central time, November 9th, 2016.
