- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP). THERE WILL NOT BE A SOLICITATION, SPECIFICATIONS, OR DRAWINGS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. This notice is a market research tool used for planning purpose only to determine the availability and capability of small business sources prior to issuance of an RFP. The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Walla Walla, Washington, District is seeking to identify small business manufacturers capable of providing this requirement. This requirement is for (2) two new cooling pumps and motors to be delivered to Little Goose Dam, Dayton, WA. The pumps shall be Grundfos KWM.40".265.10.T.60.M.46 or "approved equal". The pump shall be a fully submersible axial/mixed flow pump and designed for vertical tube/pipe installation. The pump shall be capable of delivering a minimum of 25,000 GPM at 27 feet of total dynamic head. All cast parts such as the suction and discharge casing, stator/motor housing and bearing bracket covers shall be ASTM 48-CL35. Cast parts exposed to water shall have a minimum protective paint coating of 300 µm. Impeller and wear ring shall be constructed from Duplex Stainless Steel Grade 1A. The impeller shall be free from defects and must be accurately cast, machined, and filed for optimum performance and minimum vibration. Impeller shall utilize self-cleaning hydraulics to reduce risk of clogging or jamming. Pump/motor shaft shall be constructed of ASTM A276-410 stainless steel. It shall be precision ground and polished. Shaft shall have a SIC/SIC double mechanical shaft seal. Main bearings shall be angular contact ball bearings with angle ring with support bearings being a single-row deep groove ball bearing and roller bearing. Bearings shall be greased for life, have a 60,000 hr life and include thermal and water sensors. The motor shall be a squirrel cage induction type, NEMA Design B with Class H insulation and an IP-68 enclosure. The motor full-load amps shall be 375 or less. The motor shall be at least 90% efficient and have 1.15 service factor. It shall be VFD compatible and be suitable for operation using 3 phase, 480 V, 60 Hz service. Motor housing shall include moisture sensor, stator thermal sensor, and bearing thermal sensor. Sensors shall communicate with a protection module which stops the motor if a sensor detects a fault. Power and control cables shall be separate to permit termination on different receptacles. All interested and capable small business manufacturers are encouraged to respond. The Government will not pay for any information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the sources sought evaluation. One of the main functions of this sources sought notice is to assist the Contracting Officer in determining whether an 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), Certified HUBZone Small Business, Woman-Owned Small Businesses (WOSB) or Small Business set-aside is an acceptable strategy for this procurement. If a full and open competition is ultimately pursued, responses to this synopsis may be used to aid in establishing realistic, achievable small business subcontracting goals. The anticipated contract award date for these pumps are December 2016. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this project will be 333911 (Pump and Pumping Equipment Manufacturing) and the associated small business size standard is 750 Employees. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS Firms interested in this requirement should submit a statement of interest and capabilities that is no more than 5 pages in length, single-spaced, 12-point font minimum demonstrating ability to perform the requested services. The capability package must be complete and sufficiently detailed to allow the Government to determine the firm's qualifications to perform the defined work. The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from the potential sources as a result of this synopsis. The documentation shall address, as a minimum, the following: (1) STATEMENT OF INTEREST (a) Confirm that your company is interested and intends to submit a quote / bid / proposal when a solicitation is issued. (2) COMPANY PROFILE (a) Company name and address (b) Point of contact of the company including name, title, telephone number, fax number and e-mail addresses (c) Small Business designation/status if applicable, such as 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, SDB (d) DUNS number (e) CAGE code. (f) Description of capabilities to provide two new cooling pumps and motors as described above. Responses are due no later than 11/08/2016.
