No award will be made as a result of this market survey. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division is seeking potential sources and pricing for the development and validation of a custom battery for use in the Universal Water Activated Release System (UWARS). Background: The Universal Water Activated Release System (UWARS) functions to provide attachment of the aircrew member's manual parachute release to the parachute assembly during flight operations, emergency egress, and parachute descent. It will automatically separate an aircrew member from the parachute canopy upon immersion into seawater. This function serves as a backup to the normal method of manually disconnecting the parachute from the aircrew member. The UWARS unit currently utilizes a stack of four CR-1220 lithium/manganese dioxide button cell batteries to power the Built-in-Test (BIT) circuit and to power the firing circuit. The primary objective is to identify and qualify a source for a custom battery that is suitable to the electrical characteristics of the UWARS unit and can tolerate the temperature/environmental conditions that the UWARS unit experiences. Submission Requirements: All interested sources shall provide in their submission the tasks to be performed to demonstrate their battery design meets the objectives and requirements defined in the Statement of Objectives. Included in the submission will be rough order of magnitude costs and schedule associated with each task. Interested sources shall also provide a company brochure, list of capabilities, organization names, addresses, technical/programmatic points of contact, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses as elements of their response. If outsourcing, the selected establishments shall be included in the submission as well. All responding sources must email their response submissions no later than COB of 17 th of November 2016 to: 1) Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division.
