Description
The U.S. Geological Survey is seeking potential sources for marine science services, to continue an ongoing sediment trap experiment in the Gulf of Mexico that was started in 2008. During the next 5 years, there are two sediment trap recovery/redeployment cruises planned each year. An experienced marine scientist is needed to participate as a member of the team deploying and servicing the sediment trap from a vessel launching and returning to Cocodrie, LA. The contractor will be responsible for aiding USGS personnel in assembling and deploying the McLane sediment trap at sea. The contractor will also be responsible for helping USGS personnel in recovering, servicing, and re-deploying the sediment trap. In addition, the USGS requires a research scientist to conduct stable isotope analyses of aliquots of planktonic foraminifers provided by USGS researchers from sediment trap samples. All interested firms shall submit a response demonstrating their capabilities to perform the requested services to the primary contact below. Firms responding should indicate whether their socioeconomic status (e.g. small business, service disabled veteran, woman/women owned, HUBZone, etc.). The Government's evaluation of the capabilities of respondents will factor into whether the forthcoming solicitation will be conducted using full and open competition or as a set-aside for small businesses or small business designation. This requirement is expected to result in the award of a firm-fixed price contract. The Product Service Code is B517: Special Studies/Analysis - Geological The NAICS code is 541712: R&D in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences. The size standard is 1000 employees. All business concerns who believe they can responsibly perform this requirement should submit the following information to sruggles@usgs.gov no later than 11/11/2016 17:00 ET. NOTE: All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary - the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government. Materials submitted to the Government for review will not be returned. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. This is not a request for proposals. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on responses received under this announcement.
