- Description
- Statement of Work BXD Chiller #4 The work will be on a York International, water cooled chiller. Model # YKQSQRK2DBG5, SERIAL # SAWM460440. The reason for the Emergency is because this chiller is one of the main chillers for the campus chiller plant which supplies chilled water to all healthcare buildings including critical areas such as ICU, operating rooms, and the Emergency Department. In addition, the work to be performed is exploratory and is necessary to determine the problem with the chiller. This will involve partial disassembly of the unit and appurtenances. Once the problem is understood, additional work will have to be performed for the repair. Therefore, it is critical that this work be performed immediately. Work is to be performed at Chiller Plant 2 in Building 3. The contractor will isolate all sources of energy following appropriate lock out - tag out procedures. They will remove all electrical conduit and wiring from the motor. The contractor will remove any vent pipe that is in their way while working overhead. The contractor is responsible for removing any chill water pipe or condenser water pipe without interrupting service. They will also remove any lighting. They will setup and secure to the floor an A frame to remove the motor. They will lower the motor to the floor and place on a cart to be moved to another location in room 1A185. They will then remove the rotor from the compressor and check the runout and thrust on the impeller and remove it. They will set the impeller on a cart and move it to another location in room 1A185. They will then re-position the A frame over the compressor to disassemble the compressor to perform an internal inspection of the compressor. They will also cover and seal all openings. Contractor is to provide a written proposal for necessary repairs including a description of the problems once they are determined.
