Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Dayton VA North Texas Health Care System (VANHCS intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302--5, with their academic affiliate, UT Southwestern University Medical Center (UTSW) McDermott Center Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Core. NGS Core at UTSW is a state-of-the-art sequencing facility that performs NGS coupled to bioinformatic analysis. McDermott NGS Core offers services extending from library construction to sequence analysis. The facility has 2 Illumina HiSeq 2500 sequencers and a NextSeq 500 Illumina instrument. The Bioinformatics Core provides services to manage and analyze next-generation sequencing data. The team includes individuals with skills in bioinformatics, computer science, and statistics. This contract is in support of VA Merit, Functional Consequences of Adenosine-Mediated Changes in Homeostatic Sleep Needs. This research study illustrates the slow wave activity (SWA) is a defining feature of slow wave sleep (SWS) and the best biomarker for homeostatic sleep need. This contract is necessary to support the continued focused research of the North Texas VA. The ongoing collaboration with UTSW is vital to provide veterans with the best possible care and support for existing research efforts. This contract allows the VA to maintain an essential capability and ongoing research efforts that cannot be currently performed by the VA. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Monday, November 7, 4:00, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
