Description
The purpose of amendment 0001 to sources sought W31P4Q-17-R-0026 is to answer the following questions: Question 1: Would you be able to tell me if there is an incumbent contractor for this requirement? If so, could you please provide the contractor name and the contract number that was awarded? Answer 1: The ALD effort is a new Army basic research project. There is not an incumbent contractor. Question 2: What are the material type(s) that are desiring to be deposited as a film? Answer 2: This is a new basic research effort to explore a variety of dielectric and metal multilayer composites. There is not a requirement for a specific material. Question 3. Does the customer have interest in obtaining standard or custom films? Answer 3: This is a basic research task to explore a variety of custom films. Question 4: Is the customer interested in developing new optical deposited films? Answer 4: The optical properties of the ALD films are a feature of interest, the films themselves do not need to be new, but combinations of standard films can lead to new optical properties. Question 5: How many film layers is the customer interested in depositing? Answer 5: Since this is a research project here is not a specific requirement for the number of layers but the ability to produce several layers will allow for greater flexibility in multilayer designs. Question 6: What are the single film thickness desired by the customer? Answer 6: This is a research project and individual film thicknesses will vary from a few monolayers to tens of monolayers. Question 7: Is the customer only interested in researching the procurement of an ALD tool? Answer 7: Customer not interested in researching the procurement. Interested in procuring the ALD for a basic research project that involves the growth of thin films. Question 8: Would the customer be interested in external/contracted film deposition(s) development? Answer 8: Possibly, as a comparison to films generated from other ALD sources.
