- Description
- This solicitation is for the contractor to furnish and deliver a portable bridge to include design according to terms, conditions and specifications contained in the solicitation. The structural design of the bridge superstructure is to be performed by or under the direct supervision of a Registered Professional Engineer, licensed in the state of Alabama. The bridge is to be designed in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. The bridge to be designed to be installed using equipment commonly available on a logging job (i.e. grapple or cable skidder, loader, dozer). Primary Bridge design characteristics: The bridge to be designed to accommodate HL93 vehicle loads or greater; The bridge to be manufactured for portability in one of the following manners because the bridge will be relocated repeatedly--Hinged along its entire length or bolting and unbolting adjacent panels into sections equal to half of the width of the bridge. Effective Length: 30' minimum to 35' maximum; Clear lane width: 12' minimum, measured between face of barriers. The bridge components to consist of any combination of the following materials. Painted (two coats) steel, Structural steel to be ASTM A709 Grade 50W, weathering steel, Miscellaneous steel to be ASTM A36, Corrugated, galvanized metal: 7 or 9 gage, and/or Treated wood: all wood to be treated to minimum retention 0.4 pcf. Delivery location is Talladega Ranger District Office, 1001 North Street, Talladega, AL 35160. Contractor is to provide labor and equipment for offloading bridge. Provide demonstration for structure erection and disassembly. Contractor to provide all labor and equipment for demonstration. Support and stack all components to prevent damage. Furnish and install blocking to support all components at least 12 inches above the ground in stored condition. Solicitation should be available on this web site on or about Nov 9, 2016.
