Description
SOURCES SOUGHT: TURBOMOLECULAR, DRY VACUUM and CRYO PUMPS Description The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors that are capable of providing a specific set of high-vacuum turbomolecular pumps, cryogenic pumps and dry roughing pumps. The pumps will be used to support a set of nanofabrication, processing, and analytical tools in the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) NanoFab that are used as a shared resource accessible to researchers from industry, academia, NIST, and other government agencies. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. Tool down time causes delays in critical CNST NanoFab projects and increases operational costs. Vacuum pump failures constitute a large percentage of the tool failures, and repair or replacement of some vacuum pump models have long lead times. To minimize tool downtime and control costs the CNST intends to maintain a complete set of spare vacuum pumps to support the CNST NanoFab's tool set. The spare pumps will be drop-in replacements for the pumps listed in Table 1. The pumps being purchased include cryogenic pumps, turbo-molecular (turbo) pumps and dry roughing pumps as itemized in the table. The pumps shall meet the following requirements. See Attachment for full details and table of pumps
