Description
The purpose of this amendment is to respond to questions from interested parties. How was the determination made, relative to integrated pest management (IPM), that pest operators are suitable for treating Veterans and/or VA personnel wardrobe (a person's entire collection of clothes.)? VA RESPONSE: This statement refers to our facility housing up to 250 Domiciliary Residents in Building 160 and 70 Residents in the Community Living Center Building 162, and 104 inpatient beds, besides the annual pest control treatments they may have to treat individual resident rooms which are living quarters outfitted with wardrobe units, dressers, beds, etc. The technician has the responsibility to provide site-specific recommendations for structural and procedural modifications to aid in pest prevention and application. One example would be the use of non-chemical control methods such as traps or such devices in patient care areas. All ward and domiciliary patient lockers receive special application of a long-term residual pesticide on a semi-annual basis. Are washers and dryers available in the immediate vicinity where VA patients or personnel wardrobes are placed or stored? If so, will awardee have access to utilize washers and dryers for IPM purposes? VA RESPONSE: There are laundry facilities at both locations where the Residents are responsible for laundering their personal clothing. When such pest control issues arise patient clothing is laundered on site with VA employee assistance.  The awardee will not have access to the washers and dryers as it will not be necessary. Incumbent contractor: Terminix FY16 contract award: $19,128.00.
