Description
1 ?.## Snow/Ice Removal Synopsis Contractor shall provide all necessary supervision, labor, equipment and materials for the following work. The general limit of the specified work area will be located at the West Haven VAMC, 195 Campbell Avenue, West Haven CT, 06516. The work will entail snow removal and ice control for sidewalks and building entrances Perform Snow/Ice Removal. Snow Removal. The contractor will remove snow from all roads, parking lots, sidewalks, steps, stairs, landings and entrance ramps. The contractor shall clear the sidewalks, steps, stairs, landings and entrance ramps to their full widths of snow accumulation, piles or drifts. The contractor will remove snow and ice from around fire hydrants and PIV pipes. Snow will begin to be removed when accumulation exceeds three (3) inches, with a response time of less than 5 Hours from the time of the notification. This may require multiple snow/ice removals each day. Equipment: Vendor will use Equipment deemed adequate to plow the West Haven VAMC parking lots and streets. Load any snow and remove snow from the West Haven VAMC premises. Snow has to be hauled off site to permissible dumping location without additional cost to the VA. Total inches based on total snow storm accumulation as reported by the National Weather Service. Ice Removal. The contractor will treat all roads, parking lots, sidewalks, steps, stairs, landings and entrance ramps. The contractor shall immediately treat and remove ice to provide secure footing on all areas covered in this contract. The contractor will use an approved environmentally friendly ice melt product of Calcium Magnesium Acetate (CMA) such as Inferno or equal. The contractor may not use sand in lieu of approved snow melt. Specifically, use granular ice melt on entranceways and stairs (Calcium chloride), liquid ice melt on sidewalks (Magnesium chloride brine), and Magic Salt on roads (Granular Magnesium chloride coated rock salt).   No sand.
