- Description
- The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to acquire AN/USQ-82(V) Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) Design Agent and Technical Services on a sole source basis from The Boeing Company, 5301 Bolsa Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92647-2048. The tasks involving specialized knowledge and skills include: 1) Approximately 25 circuit card designs developed originally by Boeing, 2) Firmware and applications totaling 300,000 Source Lines of Code (SLOC) implementing unique redundancy and translation protocols, 3) Extensive and complex Adaptation Data Sets requiring specialized system knowledge and tools, and 4) Ongoing development, qualification and integration of system upgrades which are being transitioned from Boeing Independent Research and Development (IR&D) funding to Government funding. Boeing has developed these areas of expertise over the past twenty-five (25) years as the original Design Agent and manufacturer of the Data Multiplex System (DMS), Fiber Optic Data Multiplex System (FODMS), and Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS). Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact Boeing. The Period of Performance will be a total of five (5) years, including one (1) base year and four (4) option years. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government currently intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. The Government is actively seeking additional sources. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all responsible sources are encouraged to submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, within fifteen days (15) after date of publication of this synopsis. Any submissions will not be reimbursed by the Government -- the entire cost of any submission will be at the sole expense of the source submitting the information. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
