Description
This Notice DOES NOT constitute a request for a quote, or proposal for the procurement of products or services. The Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Enterprise Procurement Initiatives (EPI), Senior Procurement Executive (SPE) of the Department of Education (ED), intends to host a Government/Industry Roundtable event on Tuesday, December 13 th, 2016, from 2 pm to 4 pm, focusing on leading edge and best practices in the procurement field. This roundtable will bring EPI, SPE, and industry procurement leaders together to discuss key issues, topics, concerns and foster better collaboration regarding the procurement process. The main topic for this event is Agile Practices. Guiding questions for the roundtable include: 1. Agile development is a process distinct from others the government can use. Should ED consider it strictly for software development? Should ED consider applying agile principles and practices to non-software requirements? Why or why not? 2. How does agile development compare to other processes such as incentives, challenges and prototyping? When is one better than the other? Why? 3. Should ED apply agile procurement methods to the small “a” acquisition process involving COs? The big “A” acquisition process and involving CORs and PMs with COs? Or both? When and why? 4. What are the desired outcomes for Government and Industry in using agile contracting and agile development? What does success look like? This roundtable event has very limited space, so we will be accepting only the first 20 companies who register. Each company may have two people attend: one to sit at the roundtable, and the other to sit as proxy in the audience. Future roundtables focused around other topics will be offered quarterly. When registering, please provide the contact information for both people who will be attending. Location: Potomac Center Plaza Auditorium 550 12th Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20202 Date: December 13 th, 2016 Time: 2 pm to 4 pm EST Contact: Christian Jerome, 202-245-6454, christian.jerome@ed.gov
