Description
How many yearly or monthly or weekly airport transports are needed in either one-way or round trip? Weekly transport to/from airport will be approximately 50-60 trips. About 50 patients arrive Sunday via BNA, the rest on Tuesday and sometimes rest of week if they come from admission. They start to trickle out on Tuesday with approximately 25 patients/caregivers, the rest throughout the week. We cannot predict when patients will arrive since they come from all over the country. In the solicitation it indicates that on call transportation should be provided for the transplant patients. Is this a service that will come at the expense of the contractor or is it simply to help coordinate and assist the patients in finding their own transportation which they will pay for? This is an expense of the contractor. This is transportation not coordination. The VA expects that the contractor will provide shuttle service to/from hotel and hospital. Shuttle service shall be available every ½ hour. Should all rooms be ADA compliant; i.e. hand rails, roll in showers, etc. or is there a minimum number of rooms required to be ADA compliant? All rooms do not need to be ADA compliant but if ADA rooms are available the VA prefers ADA rooms for our patients. Are there specific ADA requirements needed for the transport vehicle; i.e. lift gates, wheelchair accessible, etc.? Lift gates are not necessary. A step stool for easier access to the shuttle may be required by some individuals. Storage space on the shuttle will be required for possible wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc. Who is the current contractor providing these services? Arrowhead Realty What were the overall and annual contract dollar amounts? Approximately $1,550,000.00 annually Are veteran owned and/or SDVOSBs favorably considered/evaluated in this procurement? Market research indicates that there are not enough SDVOSB firms or VOSB firms within the required 10 mile radius of the VA facility. This solicitation is set aside for SB firms.
