Description
The US Army Corps of Engineers, Northwest Seattle (CENWS) District is hosting a free seminar for business owners and representatives on Tuesday, 17 January 2017, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM (PST) to present training on how to do business with CENWS District. ‘Industry Day' activities will be held at CENWS District, 4735 East Marginal Way South, Bldg. 1202, Seattle, WA 98134. There is no charge to participate. Foreign National Visitor Requests are required no later than 11 January 2017. Registration and Citizenship Status: US Citizen (US Federal and/or State issued ID card required at check-in). Due to security requirements, please do not bring tablets or laptop devices. This Industry Day event features informational briefings presented by District staff, opportunities to take part in roundtable discussions and information about upcoming contracting opportunities. Topics to be covered: SBA Regulatory & Legislative updates; Program & Contracting Processes: Market Research/Sources Sought; Indefinite Delivery Contracts; What we Buy; and Forecast of Upcoming Opportunities CENWS panel discussion focused on Doing Business with the US Army Corps of Engineers; and A Small Business Panel discussing Socio-Economic Programs in contracting with the Government. Lunch options are limited in the facility and available on a pay-as-you go basis. Participants may also make their lunch arrangements in the nearby community. Networking is encouraged during the lunch break and following the official event activities. Contractors with little or no experience doing business with the Government are encouraged to contact their respective Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) and Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) for established training programs. CENWS District provides military and civil public works services as well as support for other agencies. The District oversees more than 10,000 acres of public land and water; its civil works boundaries encompass 99,000 sq. miles and contain 4,700 miles of shoreline; and plays a key role in environmental protection and improvement-from protecting wetlands to ecological restoration and cleaning up hazardous and toxic waste pollution. The District's military mission includes designing and building projects for the Army (Active and Reserves) and Air Force. The District also provides technical services to other armed forces upon request. The District operates the Chief Joseph Dam in Bridgeport, WA; the Albeni Falls Dam in Oldtown, ID; the Libby Dam in Libby, MT; and the Hiram Chittenden (Ballard) Locks in Seattle, WA.
