- Description
- Questions and Answers: 1) Specification 1.1; 6 DoF (motion). A) Are there required minimum ranges of motion for certain joints in the system? There aren't strict numeric requirements. We feel that we've given people enough information to understand what we're doing with this positioner, thus they should be able to propose a solution that meets our technical needs. B) Are there evaluation criteria set forth regarding the capability / range of motion of each joint? ) It's a lowest price, technically acceptable evaluation process, so as long as it meets the requirements outlined in the statement of work, it will be considered. 2) Specification 1.8. The robot controller shall be capable of being controlled remotely (i.e., sent commands via an external computer). The controller shall be programmable in Python, or include an API for use in Python. A) Will the computer be physically located in the test chamber with the arm? The computer/controller should not be inside the chamber with the robot. The controller will be placed outside the chamber. However, there is filtered AC power available for use inside the robot. B) If so, how far away does the computer and controller need to be as to not interfere with testing? See 2a no requirements because the controller is outside the chamber. C) Are there requirements pertaining to signals / noise coming form the controller / computer if co-located within the chamber? See 2a; no requirements because the controller is outside the chamber. D) If the computer is to be located outside of the chamber, is there a wired interface to the chamber wall via an electrical feed thru panel? NIST will provide access through the chamber bulkheads for necessary cabling. The vendor is not responsible for providing filtered feedthroughs. The vendor should include approximately 50 feet of cable to run from the controller, through the chamber, and to the positioner inside the chamber. 3) Pricing. Is there a specific pricing schedule or set of CLINs that NIST would like contractors to use for bidding purposes, or will price be evaluated only at the "bottom line"? One final price will be evaluated not cost elements. Finally, we respectfully request that you consider extending the solicitation due date to Monday, 12/12/16 at 11:00AM Mountain Time to allow bidders a full week to refine proposals and offer the best possible pricing to the government. Agreed.
