- Subject: Sources Sought Vacuum Pyrolysis Cleaning System THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY for a vacuum pyrolysis cleaning system utilizing heat and vacuum to remove material such as thermoplastic from metal parts (i.e., pipes, spinnerets, plates, packs, etc.), which are capable of meeting the basic requirements described below. This is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB). It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability and adequacy of potential sources for planning purposes only. Responses to this notice are not considered as offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information presented or the use of any such information. DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development & Engineering (NSRDEC) is requesting information to identify sources who could supply a vacuum pyrolysis cleaning system. Specifically, NSRDEC is requesting information on commercially available equipment that will meet the following requirements: • Load Volume: approximately: 15"W X 24"L x 31"H • Load weight: 300 pounds or less • Cleaning Cycle Time: 4 hours or less • Operating Temperature Range: 800-1000 degrees F • Vacuum of approximately 25 inches or mercury • Machine Weight: Approx. 2000 pounds REQUESTED INFORMATION: The following specific information is requested from potential sources on the vacuum pyrolysis cleaning system: • Brand name and model number • Product/item features/description to include the following performance characteristics: o Load features (e.g., horizontal or vertical load) o Load volume and load weight limitations o Cycle Time o Temperature range o Suitability for use with which thermoplastic polymers o Controller features (e.g. temperature controller, vacuum gauge, etc) o Trap features o Safety and Environmental features (e.g., temperature override monitor, EPA emissions compliant) • Product/item specifications to include: o Overall Dimensions o Overall Weight o Power requirements o other utility (e.g., water, air) requirements o Exhaust requirements Sources may submit product brochures, pictures and other product literature. Also include the following information for both equipment systems: • 2017 Price list • Production lead time and estimated delivery time • Shipping terms (e.g., FOB Destination) • Installation services, if available • Warranty period and pertinent information • Spare Parts availability time (e.g., within 24-48 hours) • Emergency service and/or maintenance information Respondents are requested to provide information by Tuesday, 31 January 2017/3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Documents may be submitted via hardcopy and/or electronically, in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and/or Adobe Professional format, and provided on compact disk (CD). No telephonic responses to this RFI will be considered. Any organization responding to this notice should ensure that its response is complete and sufficiently detailed. Information provided will be used to assess tradeoffs and alternatives available for any potential requirement. Input on technical aspects of the responses may be solicited by NSRDEC from non-Government consultants/experts who are bound by appropriate non-disclosure requirements. By responding to this notice, the Respondent agrees to allow such input from non-Government consultants/experts concerning the information and materials submitted.
