Description
Cloud Infrastructure and Management VA118-17-R-1821 Questions and Answers- 1. Question: VA s existing IO private cloud should already have a cloud management platform. What is the current CMP? Answer: VMware vCloud Director 5.5. 2. Question: To achieve the objective, VA requires on-site capabilities. Since many CMP tools in the market are offered as SaaS, and not on premises, could these SaaS offerings be accepted? Answer: No, The CMP solution is required to be on-site. 3. Question: To Service the VA's customers for self Service, does the VA envision a cloud brokerage solution for the multiple approved service providers? If so, what features does the VA anticipate are needed? Answer: Yes, VA does envision a cloud brokerage solution for the multiple approved service providers. Please reference Section 3.1 of the RFI for current list of desired features. 4. Question: Is there particular PaaS and SaaS solutions the VA is seeking in the envisioned Hybrid cloud or just a capability to reach various solutions? Answer: At this time, VA is looking for the capability to reach various solutions. 5. Question: Which DBaaS solutions is the VA seeking to leverage? What applications are envisioned using these services? Answer: Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, and MongoDB.   It will be used by various VA applications. Question 6: What is the anticipated growth that the VA anticipates for a multi Cloud solution? Answer: 100% plus of the detailed environment annotated in the RFI over the next few years. Please reference Section 2.0, Table 1. Question 7: What type of backup or retention is required for the VA in the new cloud environment? Are there any Mandates associated with retention? Answer: The backup and retention will depend on client needs and must comply with VA policy. Question 8: Can the VA provide a sample workload (Application) that is intended to be migrated to a hybrid cloud multi-site deployment? Answer: Not at this time, but VA will take this into consideration for future RFIs or during the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase. Question 9: What security or policy mandates are required for the VA's use of a Hybrid cloud solution? Answer: Please reference Section 3.1 number 27 and Section 4, reference 4 (VA Handbook 6500) in the RFI. Question 10: What operating systems does the VA require to be supported in the Hybrid Cloud solution, vendor and versions? Answer: Please reference Section 2.0, Table 1 in the RFI. Question 11: In section 27 under Security, the RFI requests FISMA High with all additional security controls. In section 2.0 Background, it states High or Moderate. Please clarify the VA's mandate and security requirement. Answer: It is anticipated that FISMA High will be required. Question 12: Is there an approved cloud provider list? If so, please provide the approved list. Given the dynamic nature of cloud offerings and technology, what requirements are needed for the VA to approve a cloud provider? Answer: There is no known approved cloud provider list. Question 13: The RFI Specifies FISMA however does not specify FedRAMP. Is FedRAMP required for the VA's Hybrid cloud? Answer: FedRAMP requirements have yet to be formally determined but FedRAMP High Certification may be initiated at a later date. Question 14: The VA Requested a ROM to price provide anticipated costs, however, the VA did not specify actual tasks to price against, use pricing models to price against, or provide volumes to provide discounts and pricing structures. Does the VA intend to issue sample task orders to demonstrate approach, methods, and pricing for implementing a multi-cloud, CSP and on Premis, solution? Answer: The VA does not intend to issue sample tasks at this time. Please provide your best estimate of cost along with any suggested pricing models for your proposed solution. 15. Question: Is there a current incumbent performing this work or similar work for the Agency right now? Answer: No.
