- This Sources Sought notice is being posted to satisfy the requirement of Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement 206.302-1(d). The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NSWC IHEODTD), Contracts Department, Code 02 intends to award a contract for the purchase of MK 296 Mod 0 57mm Target Practice Cartridges. The manufacture of these cartridges includes all components and Load, Assemble and Pack (LAP). The cartridge shall be electrically primed and designed to function in the 57mm MK 110 Gun Mount. The cartridge is intended to provide training for combat ground, surface, and air engagements. The fixed cartridge shall consist of an inert projectile, a cartridge case with low vulnerability ammunition propellant, and an electric primer. The cartridges shall be clipped together with the MK 8 Clip and packed 2 each in the MK 806 container. This is a sole source requirement to BAE System (CAGE 44114), 4800 E River Rd, Minneapolis, MN 55421-1402. BAE is the only currently qualified vendor of this ammunition and therefore is the only vendor currently able to meet this FY17 requirement. THIS IS NOT AN INVITATION FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of 10 USC 2304(C)(1), as implemented in FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, the Government will consider all responses received to this notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. No solicitation will be available for this procurement. Information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit or award a contract. All interested sources shall provide the organization name, address, point of contact, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, business size, taxpayer identification number, DUNS number, and CAGE Code. In addition, all interested sources shall provide a summary of their company's capabilities and relevant production history.
