The PPG is intended to provide power for charging batteries that are carried by individual Soldiers during dismounted operations, therefore minimal weight and volume are high-priority system attributes. The PPG is not strictly limited to traditional internal combustion engine driven power sources; it could include alternate technologies such as fuel cells (single or multiples), solar generation, Kinetic power, or other renewable sources, etcetera. RFIs were released for the PPG program in October 2015 and September 2016. The original performance requirements have been clarified since the RFI dated 19 September 2016. A clarification in the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) has resulted in a requirement for a PPG system with reduced component weight and the allowance for meeting the 900W power requirement using multiple components that produce power in not-less-than 300W increments. Industry Day Goals: •Encourage synergy between DoD and Industry representatives •Incorporate Industry comments into the Request For Proposal development process •Communicate PPG requirements and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) •Gain a better understanding of recent Industry developments •Provide updates to Industry on future DoD developments Detailed schedule will be provided 5 business days prior to the start of the Industry Day.
