- Description
- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOT A SOLICITATION. The United States Military Academy is looking for a small business who can meet the requirements below for a Structural Insulated Panel Hut. SIP‐Hut 6.0 Purchase Specification The following specification applies to the purchase of 1 each SIP-Hut. Building Foundation • The building will have outside dimensions of 16‐ft. x 32‐ft. and will be supported on a pultruded fiberglass beam system that sets on a series of PVC footers). The footers are placed on an 8-ft. x 8-ft. grid. • The floor panels must be 4'x16' (nominal dimension with sizes reduced based on ‘wrapped floor' detail) and will span across three each foundation beams placed at the outside edges and centerline of the building running in the long direction. Note that the base of the wall panels will rest 1" above the base of the floor panels within the fiberglass beam frame to facilitate rapid squaring of the foundation system. The maximum floor thickness is 6‐5/8". Building Envelope • The building will be the outside dimensions being 16‐ft. x 32‐ft. and having a shed roof. • The roof panels will be a maximum length of approximately 9' such that connection can be made to the ridge beam and top of wall panels. • The floor/wall connection with be a ‘wrapped floor' style with both wall and floor panels resting on the perimeter beam as shown in. • The plate height on the eaves will be 7 ft. (+/‐1") from the plane of the floor on the low side of the building and 8'-6" (+/‐1") from the plane of the floor on the high side. • The door opening on each short end of the building will accommodate a 36‐in. x 80‐in. door and be located on the low side of the center of the building as shown in Figure 3. • Four each 3-ft. wide x 1-ft. tall window openings will be provided as shown in Figure 3. • The entire building envelope (floor, walls, roof) will be constructed with Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). The roof, walls and floor must have insulation ratings of at least R‐27, R‐27, and R‐41, respectively. • It is desirable to keep panel thickness to a minimum. • The SIPs will be constructed with an Exposure 1 OSB that meets product standard PS 2‐92. • The individual panels cannot weigh more than 300 lbs. and must be 4 ft. or less in one of its two dimensions to allow placement in a standard military shipping container (CONEX). • The roof pitch will be 1.5:16 on the gable end. • The minimum overhang for gables and eaves will be 1 ft. • The supplier will apply an epoxy paint to the floor (approximately 488 square feet having a tan color), the exterior walls (approximately 700 square feet having a tan color and UV resistance if possible), and the exterior roof (approximately 767 square feet with a white color). • The supplier will apply a standard white semi-gloss latex paint to the interior walls and ceiling to provide for better light reflection inside the structure. • The coatings shall fully adhere to standard OSB (oriented strand board) and standard dimensioned lumber. The vendor will provide all materials and equipment necessary to apply the coatings. Constructability • The SIP system must be designed for ease of assembly by soldiers having little familiarity with the system or design. Easy assembly is characterized by wall and roof panel connections that align easily and require relatively few actions on the part of the assembler. An example of such a connection is a cam‐lock system which is engaged by turning a bolt using a T‐wrench. • The SIP solution provided must include all required 2x lumber factory cut and installed into the panel edges, panel screws, and shop drawings. 2x material to be factory installed on wall panel bottoms, tops and edges as appropriate, floor panel ends and edges, and roof panel edges. The goal is to minimize field installation of 2x material. 1"x2" strips will be pre-cut and tacked into place in the window openings to enable installation of customer provided Lexan windows. • The SIP system must be easily disassembled to enable repackaging and movement to another location. Additional Items • The vendor will provide the following items as part of the SIP Hut Package: 1. 2 each Doors: http://www.homedepot.com/p/JELD‐WEN‐Flush‐Primed‐White‐Steel‐Entry‐Door‐ 710586/202036369 white, steel, insulated, model # 710586, store SKU 663624 or similar. 2. 2 each basic door knobs: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Defiant‐Brandywine‐ Stainless‐Steel‐Entry‐Knob‐T8600/100352215 model #T8600, store SKU 154644 or similar. 3. 6 each 1"x4"x8' treated lumber for door trim.
