- This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE/REQUEST FOR INFORMATION only (VA256-17-N-0233). Responses to this notice will be used for information and planning purposes and this notice is being posted to both GSA eBUY and to FBO (www.fbo.gov ). No proposals are being requested or accepted with this notice. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT SHALL BE AWARDED FROM THIS NOTICE. This notice shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Responses to this sources sought is not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation. The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS) has a requirement for two (2) Pulmonologist(s) to provide 24/7 coverage of ICU. Contract Staff Physician shall be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine with Subspecialty Board Certification in Critical Care Medicine, Intensivist, or Pulmonologist.and have current ACLS and BLS certifications. The Offeror is requested to have a minimum of two physicians with above qualifications or a pool of physicians to provide the 24/7 coverage. The physicians will have to be credentialed and privileged and also have current background checks before being allowed to begin services. Those physicians that are already considered active in the VA system are preferred based on the urgency of this requirement. Description of duties is provided further below. Place of Performance: Contractor shall furnish services at GVHCS, 400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi, MS 39531 Offeror s response to this Notice shall be limited to 10 pages and shall include the following information: Offeror s company name, DUNS, Federal Tax Id, address, point of contact, title, phone number, and email address Offeror s interest in bidding on the solicitation when it is issued whether it be issued to VA FSS holder via eBUY or a set-aside on FBO (www.fbo.gov ). If by eBUY please provide VA FSS schedule number. Offeror s capability to meet this requirement to include how they would meet schedule of 24/7 coverage (to include on-call and call-back) and demonstrate how best the VA could set up pricing schedule to allow for better offers to include break down of expenses that your company would submit billing for. After review of the responses to this sources sought notice, a solicitation announcement may be published on the FBO website or to eBUY. Responses to this sources sought notice are not considered adequate responses to the solicitation announcement. All interested offerors will have to respond to the solicitation announcement in addition to responding to this sources sought notice. All interested parties are reminded to be registered with System Award Management (SAM) at http://www.sam.gov in order to be eligible for award of Government contracts. Description of Duties: The incumbent must be Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine with Subspecialty Board Certification/Eligible in Critical Care Medicine and may hold the subspecialty of Intensivist or Pulmonologist. He/She will oversee daily operations of a 10 bed ICU and provide consultation services to the Pulmonary and Respiratory Department during clinic operations. Provider(s) tour of duty will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 7 days a week (on site). The Contractor will be required to be on-Call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (off-site) during his/her duty days and may be called back. During on-duty hours, He/She will work with the critical care management team to provide patients with high quality, continuous and consistent care. This position coordinates the clinical care of the Medicine patients and collaborates with the Surgical Service on the care of their patients. He/She facilitates communication among the primary care physicians, hospitalists, specialists, patients and their families. Participates in the training of residents and provides consultative services during the daily Surgical Service Grand Rounds. Responsible to administer bed allocation and attending staff meeting to review), ensure JCAHO and other regulatory agency mandates are being met and ensure all relevant documentation related to the ICU is reported appropriately. Demonstrated excellence in patient care is mandatory. He or she will: Admit, examine, treat, transfer and discharge assigned patients. Performs H&P on assigned patients admitted to the ICU and acute care ward as needed. May be requested to provide Hospitalist coverage as needed based upon workload. Performs daily rounds on all assigned inpatients and writes daily progress notes. Physicians are required to round with the UM nurses regarding patients that the Physicians have admitted to the facility Evaluates patients as appropriate for change in status. Performs inpatient procedures of internal medicine specialty when required. Attends daily interdisciplinary and discharge planning rounds with team. Maintains policy orders or notes as appropriate (e.g. restraint, DNR, medication reconciliation and encounter forms). Will provide coverage for critical care consultations from services within our facility and extended care. These consultations will include written documentation. In the absence of one provider, or in the event of extraordinary need, the Critical Care and Pulmonary Service will provide cross coverage for inpatient services and emergency needs including outpatient services as needed to ensure patient care quality is maintained. Be competent in ventilator management. Be responsible for appropriate documentation of clinic notes, consultations, and procedures using the computerized patient record system (CPRS). Complete electronic encounter forms for each patient encounter, with all encounters completed daily. Be responsible for following all VHA guidelines, Clinical Performance Measures, OSHA regulations, The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, and medical center policies and procedures, including guideline related to VHA and VISN 16 performance measures.
