Description
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)/Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)/National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC) in Ft. Collins, CO intends to award a Sole Source, Purchase Order to GeneSeek, a Neogen Company (DUNS: 069550929, CAGE Code: 0EWP4 ) for 1428 Porcine HD (Tissue Samples ) This procurement is being conducted in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1The statutory authority is 41 U.S.C. 253( c )(1) The property or services needed are available from only one responsible qualified source at this time and no other type of property or services will satisfy these needs. The requirement is for high density SNP genotyping services employing GeneSeek's proprietary 70k (70,000+ genetic markers) GGP HD SNP chip. The agency is in need of genotyping services that provide very high resolution of the genetic differentiation among individual pigs and among feral swine populations across the United States. High resolution genetic information will maximize the return on investment by allowing these genotypes to be used for numerous management and research projects. This information will allow NWRC to develop a detailed map of feral swine genetics across the United States, describe the patterns of range expansion of feral swine via both natural dispersal and human-facilitated introduction, identify cryptic elements of feral swine ecology such as dispersal distance and variation in reproductive success, and quantify the relative susceptibility of feral swine populations to various pathogens that are important for both domestic pig production and human health. Understanding developed by analyzing genetic patterns will inform future disease surveillance and guide future feral swine eradication efforts. High resolution genotypic data is essential for us to address questions related to the origins of feral swine, introduction history, and patterns of invasion throughout the United States. GeneSeek offers high density SNP genotyping at a rate far lower than all other service providers known to the geneticist at NWRC. Continuation of genotyping This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation documents are available and telephone requests will not be honored. However, if a firm believes it can meet the requirements it must furnish information about its products and services to the Contract Specialist listed on this notice by 4:00pm. Mountain Time (MT) on the closing date of this notice. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirement. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 541380 - Laboratory Testing, and the Small business size standard is $15Mil. Responses received after the response date or without the required information will be deemed nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. Capability statements may be sent to: Carol Dingess, Contracting Officer, USDA-APHIS-MRPBS, AAMD Procurement Branch, 2150 Centre Avenue Building B MS (2E20) Fort Collins, CO 80526, or via email @ Carol.Dingess@aphis.usda.gov or fax @ 612-336-3550.
