- SOURCES SOUGHT This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size relative to NACIS 541990. Responses will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Responses are not considered responses to any potential solicitation announcement. (DRAFT) Statement of Work Watson Caring Science Institute Requirements The contractor shall provide affiliation with the Watson Caring Science Institute. To become an National Caring Science Affiliate, an organization must demonstrate deep-rooted and sustainable commitment to integrating caring science within practices and policies, seeking to transform and broaden the notion of health and healing for its staff as well as the patients, families and communities it serves. Background & Objectives By being a member of the Watson Caring Science Institute, it would assist the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in the strengthening of our care delivery model. The model assists nurses to plan and implement purposeful care that is also efficient and yields positive outcomes for our Veterans. As the overarching framework for nursing practice, the model guides nurses as they provide care, based on evidenced-based practice, quality patient outcomes and contributions to professional nursing practice. This framework feeds directly into the Care Delivery models utilized at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. The care provided shall be guided and based on Jean Watson s Human Caring Theory. Her caritas principles are imbedded into the nursing care delivered and the environment in which the nurses work. Collaboration with Dr. Jean Watson has assisted in weaving the caritas processes into the day-to-day activities and tasks surrounding the care delivered to veteran patients. Nurses can create positive patient outcomes by integrating Jean Watsons Caritas principles along with the 6 elements of a holistic safe zone into their daily professional practice to help meet the special needs of the veteran. The 6 elements of a holistic safe zone are: Clinical Excellence, Patient Safety, Evidence Based Practice, Culture Diversity, Healthy Work Environment, and Trusting Relationships. All interested firms shall provide the following information: company name, address, point of contact, phone number, email address, capability statement, business size, DUNS and GSA contract (if any) pursuant to the NAICS code 541990. Responses to this notice shall be e-mailed to Darnell.Rias@va.gov. Telephone responses will not be accepted. Responses shall be received in writing no later than Monday, January 30, 2017 at 10a.m. CST. This notice is to assist the VA in determining sources only. A solicitation is not currently available. If a solicitation is issued it will be announced at a later date, and all interested parties shall respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this announcement. Responses are not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
