Description
NOTICE OF DECISION TO CONTRACT WITH A SINGLE-SOURCE: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, intends to award a single-source Purchase Order to Exactly Designs LLC. The attenuator may be programmed from 0 to 11dB in 1dB steps using a 28 VDC switching voltage. The 28 VDC voltage is used to activate internal magnetic solenoids in one or more of four sections to switch individual attenuation elements into and out of contract with a 50 0hm transmission strip. Each of the four sections of the attenuator provides a particular attenuation value (1,2,4 and 4 dB, respectively) which are used in various combinations to attain the desired total attenuation between 0 and 11 dB. Application of the 28 VDC high to termal No. 1 and the 28 VDC low to termal No. 2 of each attenuator section will result in the latching of the internal solenoid to the "normal" or 0 dB state. Reversing the application of the 28 VDC high and low on these terminals will result in the latching of the solenoid in the "attenuate" state. The solenoid will continue to alternate states as the polarity of the 28 VDC power is alternated between terminal No. 1 and terminal No. 2. Power rating maximum will be 500 Watts. The attenuator also includes an indicator contact for each section which will provide a signal ground when associated solenoid is latched in the "attenuate" position. This equipment was developed to replace the Hewlett Packard HP-33304D programmable step attenuator. This part numbered attenuator was made for Hewlett Packard by Agilent. FAA engineering contacted Agilent to see if they would make a special production run for the FAA. The response was they were not interested. As such, the original HP part numbered item is obsolete and no longer available for sale. Purpose of Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS) Policy 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single-source procedures. All questions pertaining to this announcement should be addressed in writing to the Contracting Specialist, Shelley Harrell, at e-mail address Shelley.Harrell@faa.gov or mailing address FAA, Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, Franchise Acquisitions Division (AAQ-722), P.O. Box 25082, Oklahoma City, OK 73125. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
