Description
Note: This announcement replaces "I-WEPTAK" which has been removed from fedbizops. The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) Commander will host the 1st Annual Installation and Mission Support Weapons and Tactics Conference (I-WEPTAC) Conference April 3-13, 2017. This conference will focus on the energy and creativity of our young warfighters on the toughest challenges the Air Force is facing in combat support. The theme of this inaugural I-WEPTAC is "Revolutionizing Combat Support." This conference will bring together hundreds of warfighters from the Air Force to discuss current and future issues, and provide solutions to potential topic/mission scenarios. The culminating event will be the Final Outbrief which will be presented to the 10 Major Command (MAJCOM) Commanders as well as senior leaders from the respective Air Staff functional offices. Independent of the conference, an Industry Day and social will be held on April 11, 2017 at the Joint Base San Antonio Lackland Officer's Club. The Industry Day and social are open to all defense industry organizations, including small businesses, who want to showcase their existing and future technologies and capabilities. It presents an opportunity for the defense industry to meet with warfighters who currently use or potentially will use their products. They are able to obtain direct feedback from the actual warfighters on what they like and don't like as well as learn first-hand about products and technology they would like to see in the future. The mission of AFIMSC is to deliver globally integrated combat support and shape the foundation of America's Air, Space, and Cyberspace power. AFIMSC is one team around the globe revolutionizing combat support. The AFIMSC cross-functional team provides globally integrated management, resourcing and combat support operations for Airman and family services, base communications, chaplain, civil engineering, contracting, logistics readiness, public affairs, security forces and financial management programs. The topics that will be presented during the conference are: Agile Combat Support Challenges in Adaptive Base Construct; Sustainment and Reconstitution in Anti-Access/Area Denial (A2/AD) Environment; Expeditionary Airmen of the Future; and Inability to Detect and Defeat the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Threat to Installations. Objectives for each topic are listed below. Topic 1 - Agile Combat Support challenges in Adaptive Basing Construct: Informs CSAF focus area to "Identify minimum deployable team size & composition." Integrates and expands on ACC's WEPTAC 2017 topic "Operational feasibility of Adaptive Basing" by addressing logistical, movement and base resiliency challenges associated with fighting from significantly increased locations. Scenario may focus on Pacific Theater challenges and build upon PACAFs ongoing efforts. Topic 2 - Sustainment & Reconstitution in A2/AD Environment: Informs AF "Set the Theater" and War Reserve Materiel (WRM) strategies, requirements & capabilities. Informs CSAF focus area to "Identify minimum deployable team size and composition." Considers logistics supply chain, fuel, ammunition, WRM, aircraft repair network integration and airbase resiliency, reconstitution and command & control. Scenario may focus on European Theater and build upon USAFE's European Contingency Air Operations Set initiative. Topic 3 - Expeditionary Airmen of the Future: Informs CSAF focus area to "Identify minimum deployable team size & composition." Addresses the full training continuum with focus on cross-functional training to develop Airmen with multi-functional wartime skills enabling more capability in smaller force packages. Considers functional skills, home station & just-in-time training and curriculum at regional training centers. Topic 4 - Inability to Detect & Defeat the UAV Threat to Installations: Informs AF Capability Development Council task for "Counter-Small Unmanned Aerial System" solution. Informs CENTCOM JUON (CC-0558) & STRATCOM JEON (ST-0008). Supports AFIMSC #1 capability gap submission. AF must identify technologies to improve detection and ability to defeat airborne threats. Tactical employment and installation protection must be operationally integrated with airspace owner, training, tactics, authorities and sustainment. AFIMSC is looking for contractors who provide services to fulfill the mission of AFIMSC to participate in the Industry Day and social on April 11, 2017. Exhibit space is limited. Exhibit set-up would be done in the evening on April 10, 2017 with exhibit tear down done on the morning of April 12, 2017. Outdoor space may be available for exhibits.
